GridRunGP Regulations
Last updated: January 10, 2026
Grand Prix Window
Each Grand Prix runs from Monday of race week through the end of the real-world Grand Prix race.
- Activities recorded before Monday of race week do not count — no warmup laps from Sunday
- Activities must be completed before the real GP ends (typically Sunday evening)
- Late uploads are allowed, but the activity itself must occur during race week
Activity Types
Both running and walking are welcome. GridRunGP is an inclusive fitness challenge.
- Runs and walks both count toward total distance and team standings
- All paces are valid — fast, slow, or anywhere in between
- Activities must be GPS-tracked and recorded via the GridRunGP Run Recorder or an approved connected platform
Verification System
All activities are automatically verified using a privacy-first system that analyzes distance and time data only (not GPS coordinates).
All activities appear on the Telemetry page, but only verified or distance-only activities count toward Grand Prix results.
Verification Status
✓ Verified (Green)
- Moving Ratio ≥ 80% and Integrity Score > 80
- Counts fully toward team distance and fastest lap eligibility
⚠ Distance Only (Yellow)
- Fails one check or Integrity Score between 50–80
- Counts toward total team distance but excluded from fastest lap eligibility
✗ Rejected (Red)
- Fails multiple checks or Integrity Score < 50
- Excluded from team totals entirely
What We Check
- Moving Ratio: Moving time must be at least 80% of elapsed time
- Speed Spikes: No unrealistic bursts (e.g., > 8 m/s or ~3:20/km pace)
- Data Gaps: Minimal gaps in GPS sampling (typically < 10 seconds)
- Distance Consistency: Summary distance aligns with recorded data streams
If you believe an activity was incorrectly flagged, you may use the Challenge option to request review.
Laps & Distance Calculation
Distances are converted into laps based on the official circuit length for that week's Grand Prix.
- Lap distance is fixed per GP
- Fastest Lap is calculated by starting at 0 and covering the full circuit distance (It is not the fastest segment within a longer run.)
- Total Laps are calculated by combining all verified and distance-only activities
Example: If the circuit is 3.5 miles and you run 7 miles, you complete 2 laps.
Team Standings
Teams compete based on total distance accumulated during the Grand Prix week.
- Verified and distance-only activities both count toward team totals
- Rejected activities do not count
- All team members contribute equally regardless of pace or activity type
Fastest Lap Bonus
The team whose member records the fastest verified lap during the GP earns a +1 point bonus toward the Team Championship
Points Distribution
Teams are awarded points each Grand Prix using the standard motorsport points table, based on total team distance:
- 1st – 25 points
- 2nd – 18 points
- 3rd – 15 points
- 4th – 12 points
- 5th – 10 points
- 6th – 8 points
- 7th – 6 points
- 8th – 4 points
- 9th – 2 points
- 10th – 1 point
The Fastest Lap Bonus is applied separately and does not affect finishing order.
All points accumulate across Grand Prix weekends to determine the Team Championship.
Changing Teams
You may switch teams at any time.
- Activities completed before switching remain with your previous team
- Activities completed after switching count toward your new team
Privacy & Data
- GridRunGP does not access or display GPS coordinates or route maps
- Verification uses distance and time data only
- Privacy zones and platform privacy settings remain respected
- Activity data is used solely for verification, standings, and visualization
Fair Play & Spirit of Competition
This is a fun, inclusive challenge — not a cutthroat competition.
- Auto-pause behavior from devices is acceptable
- Manually stopping for long breaks may affect verification
- Activities suggesting vehicle use or unrealistic movement will be flagged
- Administrators reserve the right to review and adjust obvious anomalies
When in doubt: run fair, have fun, stay active.
Results & Timing
- Team standings update automatically throughout race week
- Final classification locks after the GP ends (with a short upload grace period)
- Championship points are awarded based on final, locked results
Technical Directives
Like motorsport governing bodies, GridRunGP reserves the right to issue clarifications or refinements during the season if edge cases or creative interpretations emerge.
Rules may evolve, but the spirit remains the same: Stay active. Race clean. Enjoy the grid.
